He formed his group which was a trio consisting of him and his friends Louch and Styles. The three participated in a competition and met Mary J. Blige. Their group was called ‘The Warlox’ and they later got signed to the label ‘Bad Boy’.
The three of them cut short their group name and it became ‘The Lox’. In 1994, they appeared on the track “Set it Off” on Main Source’s album. They started collaborating with many successful artists like Puff Daddy, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, and The Notorious B.I.G. Even though the group was doing well, they weren’t happy with their record label. They left the label and signed to the “Ruff Ryders” label. In 2001, he started his solo career with his album “Kiss Tha Game Goodbye”. The album featured artists like “The Alchemist” and “Snoop Dogg”. His next album “Kiss of Death” was released in 2004 featuring artists like Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kanye West, and Pharrell Williams. His song “Why” ended up becoming one of the biggest hits of the year. His single “U Make Me Wanna” with Mariah Carey topped at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
He signed to Roc-A-Fella Records in 2007. He also featured on DJ Khaled’s and Freeway’s albums in 2006 and 2007. His album “The Last Kiss” was released in 2009. In 2010, he left his label, and in 2011, he appeared in two songs by DJ Khaled. The next year he released his mixtape “Consignment”, hosted by DJ Drama.
